Pre-Ballet
Ages 3 - 5
Your playful and energetic little one will find our Pre-Ballet classes captivating! Loaded with sensory rich activities and joyful music, they will sparkle with excitement each class. They will be lead to develop the basics of movement and coordination with warm and nurturing guidance and they will beam with pride at all the skill they acquire in ballet through the year. Joyfully, they learn to follow directions and participate in this group activity lead by expert teachers who curate every lesson especially for their age. Even their smallest accomplishments will be celebrated so that they leave with a smile on their face each week.
Dancers in our Pre-Ballet program are still quite young and new at group participation. Classroom dynamics remain at the heart of this program where following directions and taking turns is key. Each child, being truly unique, will reveal a different need and therefore response from their teacher. Often times timid and afraid of their new environment, this is an instructor’s chance to gently build trust by connecting to them genuinely and demonstrating kindness.
Their dance training is quite structured in our approach by beginning at the barre and completing a full routine of a set barre sequence each week. This is followed by time in the center where dancers are introduced to the Five Positions in ballet and explore their range of motion through stretching. As dancers move across the floor they develop coordination through a variety of steps as simple as ballet walks and graduating to skips and arabesque sauté. These can be reviewed in silly and playful ways to attract their attention. Children learn through song and using singing as cues for what to do or what is coming next is a joyful addition to their curriculum. Instructors are flexible, switching activities quickly and recognize when to move on, which is paramount in maintaining a blissful atmosphere.
